A tiny rural oasis amidst the bustling suburban community of Cole Harbour, the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum is a lone reminder of how the area looked only 40 years ago. “The breadbasket of Halifax” from the late 18th to mid 20th century, Cole Harbour was home to the market gardens which fed much of Halifax/Dartmouth. The “Heritage Farm” now occupies one of Cole Harbour’s original farms and farm buildings and is dedicated to preserving and interpreting this rapidly fading past. In season, the museum features farm animals, a working blacksmith's shop, vegetable and flower gardens and a large collection of artifacts throughout several buildings. The Rose and Kettle Tearoom, situated in the original farmhouse, serves home cooked meals and delightful afternoon teas. Adjacent to the museum are walking trails and a small wetlands. Situated just off highway #207 on the outskirts of Dartmouth, the Heritage Farm is a great place to begin or complete your forays to the Eastern Shore!
